WHOLE BODY PBMT

WHOLE BODY PBMT

WILL THE TREATMENT INTERFERE WITH OR BE AFFECTED BY ANY MEDICATIONS I USE?

If you use medications such as Tetracycline, Digoxin (used for heart irregularities) and photosensitizing drugs (e.g., tranquilizers, sulfa drugs, oral anti-diabetic drugs, antidepressants, and steroids), please consult your physician before using Red Light.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

Please bring some comfortable indoor footwear like slip-on-shoes or a pair of slippers to navigate around the center

We strive to ensure the comfort and safety of staff and visitors by encouraging a smoke-free and fragrance-free environment. As such we request that all offices and spaces used by staff and clients remain free of chemical-based scented products.

The AARC photobiomodulation pod must make direct contact with your skin so you will be required to lie in the bed without clothing. Our reception host will provide you with a robe and locker key (for a locker where you will keep your clothes) and then show you to the change room to undress in privacy.

ARE THERE ANY SITUATIONS WHERE PHOTOBIOMODULATION SHOULDN’T BE USED?

Yes, while there have been no reported side effects of photobiomodulation, in some cases it is best to err on the side of caution. Circumstances do not have the treatment include treatment directly over the abdomen or lumbar spine during pregnancy; treatment directly over the Thymus gland and; treatment over known malignancies and tumors.

HOW DOES PHOTOBIOMODULATION THERAPY COMPARE WITH OTHER CONVENTIONAL TREATMENTS?

Photobiomodulation Therapy is able to influence the problem directly at the cellular level, resulting in therapeutic benefits that are long-lasting and address the underlying condition. This is unlike any other conventional treatments, which only deal with the symptoms or site of pain, without addressing the source of pain. Working on a cellular level takes time and patience but the results are longer lasting without the risk of side effects.

IS IT OKAY TO WEAR COSMETICS DURING THE SESSION?

Please be aware that makeup may reduce or block the effectiveness of the light. For best results, we recommend removing all makeup prior to use.

HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED TO COME IN FOR BENEFITS?

We recommend every other day in the first 2-3 weeks.  At that point intervals typically reduce to 2 x per week ongoing depending on your conditions and wellness goals. Buying a monthly membership is the cheapest way to receive the best benefit from PBMT.

HOW MANY PBMT TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?

That depends on you. Every person’s condition is unique; therefore, their treatment course is as well. However, there are some general rules of thumb that apply to PBMT.

Acute injuries and inflammation from muscle strains and sprains, cuts, bruises, burns, etc. typically show very rapid improvement and can resolve in 2-4 treatments.

Long-term, chronic conditions can take as many as 12 sessions to get significant benefits then 1-2 sessions every 3-6 weeks may be necessary to maintain benefits.

HOW IS IT APPLIED?

The AARC is a whole body delivery system of PBM Therapy that has been designed to deliver optimal wavelengths, power densities, and dosages based on published clinical research outcomes. It’s as simple as lying still in the light pod for the predetermined length of time, similar to a tanning bed, except you will not get a tan.

The advantage of the AARC is it works on the whole body in just 8-15 minutes. Regular sessions have been shown to contribute to the reduction of pain, improved muscle performance and reduction of muscle fatigue.

Direct nerve application and trigger point therapy are also available. These decrease pain and relax muscle spasms, both contributing to a reduction in musculoskeletal pain. These sessions take approximately 10-15 minutes “per location” i.e. per hip/knee/ankle etc.

WHAT IS PBM THERAPY (PBMT)?

PBM Therapy, previously known as Low-Level Light Therapy, is the application of red and near-infrared light to the tissue where there is degeneration or injury, to improve, repair, and reduce inflammation and pain. This is achieved via PBM Therapy’s ability to reduce oxidative stress which is accepted as the underlying trigger for most diseases and degenerative conditions. Oxidative stress is also a component in the inflammatory phase of acute and chronic injuries.

Intended uses of PBM Therapy include:

  • Restoration of motion to joints
  • Improved muscle performance
  • Decreased post-exercise soreness

Adjunct to obesity as part of a diet and exercise program.

INFRARED SAUNA

INFRARED SAUNA

CAN I SAUNA WITH A FRIEND?

Absolutely! Our Infrared Sauna accommodates up to 4 people, and we charge individually per person using the sauna. Please note that our online system cannot make reservations for more than one person in a sauna, so please call us to schedule this type of appointment.

DO I HAVE TO DRINK WATER BEFORE USING THE INFRARED SAUNA?

It is very important that one hydrates thoroughly before and during use of the Infrared Sauna. As the body heat increases and the body begins to sweat, the loss of water can change the electrolyte concentration and can have harmful effects. Furthermore, as the toxins are released through the sweat, they are, to a lesser extent, released in the body and hydrating helps the body flush them out.

WHAT SHOULD I DO WHILE IN THE INFRARED SAUNA?

We encourage using your time in the sauna as a moment to relax and meditate and allow the infrared heat to melt away any stress or fatigue you may be experiencing. If this is not appealing to you, then the options are endless! You can bring a book, magazine, or even your phone or tablet into the sauna to pass the time.

WHAT IS INFRARED LIGHT?

Infrared light is the invisible part of the sun’s spectrum that our bodies use to heal and repair. They are the healthiest rays, with the ability to penetrate into the skin deeply as they dissolve harmful substances accumulated in your body and provide lasting relaxation. Far infrared heat provides all the healthy benefits of natural sunlight without any of the dangerous effects of solar radiation.

HOW CAN AN INFRARED SAUNA DETOXIFY?

We’ve all been told that exercise and “sweating it out” is good for us. This idea holds true when it comes to infrared saunas. Sweating is good for the body because it provides us the opportunity to let things go on a physical and mental level. Much like the Native Americans who gathered for sweat ceremonies, an infrared sauna will provide you with the chance to detoxify. Because you’re letting go of your troubles a natural way (i.e. sweating), you’ll feel refreshed and new. In a traditional sauna when you sweat from the outer layers of your skin you sweat is about 98% water and 2% toxins. In an infrared sauna, your sweat is about 80% water and 20% toxins because you are sweating from your core.

IS INFRARED LIGHT SAFE?

Infrared heat is completely safe and all objects give off and receive infrared heat. In fact, it is so safe, hospitals use similar heaters to warm newborns. Infrared is a part of nature and essential for life. The human body gives off and receives Infrared – when a mother rubs a babies stomach to relieve pain, it is the Infrared heat from her hand that is causing the healing effect.

WHAT IS INVOLVED WITH HAVING AN INFRARED SAUNA TREATMENT?

Essentially, you will undress and enter the sauna (which will be pre-heated). You will be given water, towels, and instructions on the use of the sauna. At that time you will sit down inside the sauna, get yourself situated and begin the heating up process. You can have the light on or off, or you can listen to the stereo or even read a book. Some people simply choose to be quiet and meditate while they're having treatment. There are several things that the client is required to do for their sauna treatment:

Drink plenty of water before, during and after their session.

Be prepared to get hot, sweat and detox during the session.

Sit back, relax and enjoy every deep heating, deep tissue-detox moment.

WHAT PHYSICAL ISSUES DO SAUNAS HELP WITH?

The detoxification that occurs in a sauna has been known to help with conditions such as colitis, chronic fatigue, auto-immune diseases, autism, ADD, ADHD, and fibromyalgia to name a few.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL SESSION LOOK LIKE?

A typical session is between 30 and 45 minutes, depending on which program you choose to run. For safety reasons the longest session is 45 minutes, but don’t worry, you can use the sauna every day if you please!!

*We expect you will emerge 10 to 15 minutes after your session has ended. We have mirrors and blow dryers located in our prep room so you can finish getting ready. This allows us to reset the rooms for the next sauna sessions. If you are unable to exit the Infrared Sauna Suite in a timely manner and we cannot reset the room for the next client we will charge you for the next sauna session.

DO YOU HAVE A SHOWER?

Yes, we offer a shower in our Infrared Sauna suite.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I SAUNA?

At least once a week is ideal, but you can sauna as often as you like! It is a great complement to your exercise routine, and also perfect for a rest or recovery day. While one session will leave you feeling refreshed and cleansed, maximum results are obtained with repeated treatments.

If you’re suffering from chronic illness sick or have high toxicity one session daily for at least 10 days is recommended. Subsequently, one to three sessions per week is beneficial to make a difference. Find what works best for you and your body’s needs.

WILL THE INFRARED SAUNA HELP ME LOSE WEIGHT?

It has been shown in research that a 30-minute session in an Infrared Sauna will cause a person to burn 500-800 calories. This is equivalent to running 3-5 miles. Much of the weight that is lost directly in the sauna is water weight, which needs to be replenished with fresh water, but the calories that are burned will not be replenished with water and serve to increase a body’s metabolism. This increase in metabolism has many effects that help weight loss including increasing digestion function which efficiently converts the food you eat into energy.

WHOLE BODY CRYOTHERAPY

WHOLE BODY CRYOTHERAPY

HOW MANY WHOLE BODY AND/OR LOCAL CRYOTHERAPY SESSIONS SHOULD I DO?

The optimal number of cryotherapy sessions is dependent on each client’s health and wellness objectives:

– For healthy individuals looking to enhance physical and mental performance, research has shown that 10 whole body cryotherapy sessions yield the most effective results. It is recommended that clients complete an initial 10 sessions within a 3.5-week period (3 sessions weekly). After completing an initial 10 sessions, we will evaluate client progress toward their objectives and recommend a maintenance package (discounted) to sustain and perpetuate benefits.

– For clients looking to boost a sluggish metabolism and to lose weight, we recommend ten sessions to be used in 2 weeks (5 sessions weekly). After completing ten sessions, we will evaluate client’s progress toward weight goals and suggest continued intensity or maintenance protocol.

– For individuals with specific health concerns (such as injuries, arthritis, MS, auto-immune disorders, Lyme, depression, migraines and many others) research has shown that a more intensive protocol is required. We recommend completing an initial ten sessions within a 2-week period (5 times weekly). After 10 sessions we can evaluate client’s progress and recommend continued intensity or maintenance protocol

SHOULD I EXERCISE AFTER THE CRYOTHERAPY SESSION?

You may exercise before or after a cryotherapy session. An advantage of cryotherapy over ice therapy is that tissues and muscle are not frozen. Ten minutes of light exercise post cryotherapy will induce more rapid vasodilation of the blood vessels and capillaries and extend the period of pain relief. Many of our clients also exercise first, then come in for a cryotherapy session to ensure a quick recovery and minimize next-day muscle soreness.

CAN I CATCH A COLD FROM WHOLE BODY CRYOTHERAPY?

No. In fact, the stimulation of the immune system by cryotherapy can help decrease the severity and frequency of future colds.

HOW DO I FEEL AFTER A SESSION?

WBC stimulates the body to release endorphins, the hormones that make us feel alert and energetic. The elevating effects from each session typically last for six to eight hours. Many of our clients also report improvements in their sleep quality after cryotherapy.

WHAT DO I WEAR DURING THE SESSION?

Dry socks with slippers for the feet, light cotton gloves for the hands and men wear dry briefs. This is to protect your extremities from any potential damage from the extreme temperatures. All jewelry below the neck is removed. The goal is to expose as much skin surface as possible so that your body’s reaction is optimized.

WHAT IS CRYOTHERAPY?

Studies have shown that Cryotherapy is a beneficial treatment for arthritic pain, musculoskeletal pain, inflammation, skin ailments, depression, stress, and much more. Whole Body Cryotherapy, in particular, stimulates the body’s release of endorphins which are hormones that reduce our perception of pain, trigger a positive euphoric feeling in the body, and enhance the immune response. In the United States, Cryotherapy has become a popular treatment protocol in sports and health industries and is used by professional athletes in the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, and UFC.

HBOT

HBOT

CAN I OVERDOSE ON OXYGEN?

Added enriched oxygen does need to be monitored. Ask your doctor and trained hyperbaric professional. Of course, if enriched oxygen is not being supplemented into the chamber, this is not an issue.

WHAT IS HYPERBARICS USED FOR?

Traditionally HBOT has been used for diabetic foot wounds, air and gas embolism, carbon monoxide poisoning and smoke inhalation, gas gangrene, thermal burns, decompression sickness and acute mountain sickness. Due to the healing effects of oxygen therapy HBOT is now also used for cerebral palsy, brain injuries, multiple sclerosis, ALS, anemia, wound and scar healing, post stroke care, post-surgical care, improved performance, dementia and bell’s palsy… just to name a few.

DOES INSURANCE COVER HYPERBARICS?

In the United States, there are certain indications which insurance covers. This includes gangrene, radiation burns, carbon monoxide poisoning and decompression sickness. Traditionally insurance does not cover these treatments for the conditions we are using it for in our office.

IS HYPERBARICS SAFE?

Hyperbaric has a very good safety record. Many hyperbaric centers report only mild ear discomfort as a contraindication to therapy. Such a discomfort is similar to the ear pressure felt when ascending or descending in altitude. These discomforts may be minimized by descending at a slower rate. Discuss these concerns with the treating physician and hyperbaric technician.

HOW OFTEN WILL I BE HAVING THE TREATMENT?

This depends on what you feel is appropriate. The sessions last just over an hour and are usually repeated in succession to start and then once or twice a week.

WHAT DOES HBOT FEEL LIKE?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is safe, non-invasive and found to be very effective in the healing process. During each treatment or “dive”, patients rest comfortably in a spacious hyperbaric oxygen chamber. While some may experience a slight pressure in their ears – similar to that felt during a descent on an airplane – most patients experience little to no side effects. Patients are under the constant surveillance of medical technicians with whom they can communicate freely throughout their treatment. While in the chamber, most patients are able to relax, listen to music, watch a DVD or even fall asleep.

HOW DOES HBOT WORK?

Under normal circumstances, oxygen is transported throughout the body by red blood cells only. Because HBOT forces oxygen into the body under pressure, oxygen dissolves into all of the body’s fluid, including the plasma, the Lymph, and the cerebrospinal fluids surrounding the brain and spinal cord. These fluids can carry the extra oxygen to areas where circulation is poor or blocked. In this way, more oxygen can reach damaged tissues and the body has a greater opportunity to support its own healing.

WHAT IS HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY (HBOT)

HBOT is a medical treatment that enhances the body’s healing process by providing 100% pure oxygen in a chamber where atmospheric pressure is increased in a controlled environment. The air we normally breathe only contains 19-21% oxygen. During treatment, patients breathe 100% pure oxygen. The increased oxygen intake provided by HBOT assists the body’s natural healing ability. HBOT also helps the body build new connective tissue. Consequently, HBOT may assist the body’s organs in functioning more efficiently altogether.

HIGH INTENSITY LASER THERAPY

HIGH INTENSITY LASER THERAPY

CAN LASER THERAPY BE USED WITH OTHER TREATMENTS?

Laser therapy can be used as a single therapy treatment, or as an adjunctive therapy in combination with other manual therapies such as chiropractic, massage therapy, acupuncture, or with devices including cryotherapy, whole-body light therapy, and infrared sauna.

CAN HIGH INTENSITY LASER THERAPY BE USED OVER MEDICAL IMPLANTS OR OVER METAL?

Yes, treatments can be safely administered over surgical – medical implants or metal. Since the mechanism of action is photochemical, there is no deep heating involved with the laser treatments. Treatments can be administered post-surgery for faster healing and recovery.

ARE THERE ANY SAFETY PRECAUTIONS REQUIRED?

Because the human eyes absorb light, specially designed protective safety eye-wear is required and is provided for both the person administering the laser treatment and the patient to wear during the laser therapy treatment.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?

Laser therapy produces results quickly, with improvement often within the first treatment. For many acute conditions 5 – 6 treatments are needed. Chronic conditions take longer and might require 6 – 12 treatments. While these are the averages, each person is unique and healing time varies by person and condition. For those with lifelong conditions your doctor may recommend periodic follow-up treatments.

HOW LONG WILL THE LASER THERAPY TREATMENT TAKE?

Depending on the condition, treatment times for this drug-free, non-invasive procedure will last on average 5 – 10 minutes but is based on the size of area, depth of penetration needed, and condition being treated.

HOW ARE LASER THERAPY TREATMENTS ADMINISTERED?

Treatments are performed by positioning the laser handpiece either directly on the skin or approximately ½” above the skin and surrounding the area of injury and pain with the laser treatment beam. Various areas may be treated including:

  • Directly over the site of injury or lesion
  • Acupuncture points
  • Trigger points or tender points
  • Nerve roots or superficial nerve trucks

WHAT ADVANTAGE DOES LASER THERAPY HAVE OVER OTHER FORMS OF TREATMENT?

A laser therapy treatment does not require the use of drugs or surgery, and there are no dangerous side effects or risks. Unlike many therapy products that only treat the symptoms and mask the pain temporarily, the therapy laser is able to treat the cause of the pain and injury, helping the body to heal itself.

In addition, Laser therapy provides enhanced treatment outcomes faster than any other treatment modality. Each laser therapy treatment will:

  • Decrease inflammation
  • Decreased muscle tightness and soreness
  • Decrease pain
  • Increase range of motion and movement
  • Increase faster recovery and healing

HOW DOES IT WORK?

When the photons of laser light penetrate the skin, they are absorbed by the cells and converted into energy. Energy is key to helping the cells become normal and healthy. A cascade of cellular events is triggered once the cell membrane permeability is altered including:

  • Stimulation of ATP
  • Stimulation of respiratory chain
  • Increased DNA and RNA synthesis
  • Enhanced collagen synthesis

HOW LONG DO THE TREATMENTS TAKE?

Plan on about an hour for your initial visit including consultation, history, examination and initial session. Subsequent ART® treatments usually take 15 to 30 minutes depending on the locations and severity of the condition.

WHAT IS TREATMENT LIKE AND IS IT PAINFUL?

ART® is non-invasive, very safe, and has virtually no side effects. In the beginning, treatments can be uncomfortable during the movement phases (depending on the severity of the condition and the patient’s pain tolerance). The discomfort is temporary, however, and subsides almost immediately after the treatment. It is common to feel a slight increase in your symptom pattern during the treatment, a good indication that the problem has been identified.

HOW MUCH DOES ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUES® COST?

The cost of a treatment ranges from $65 to $120 per visit depending on the severity of the condition and time required to treat it.

WHAT IS ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUES®?

ART® is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves in any area of the body. These problems typically have one important thing in common: They are often a result of overused muscles from repetitive movements.

Nerve roots or superficial nerve trucks

Increase faster recovery and healing

HOW DOES IT WORK?

When the photons of laser light penetrate the skin, they are absorbed by the cells and converted into energy. Energy is key to helping the cells become normal and healthy. A cascade of cellular events is triggered once the cell membrane permeability is altered including:

  • Stimulation of ATP
  • Stimulation of respiratory chain
  • Increased DNA and RNA synthesis

Enhanced collagen synthesis
