Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, or HBOT, is a medical treatment that enhances the body’s natural healing process by providing 100% pure oxygen to a patient in a chamber where atmospheric pressure is increased and controlled.
Every cell of the body is dependent upon oxygen for the growth, repair, and preservation of cellular functioning. Oxygen is also crucial for proper and efficient healing of most injuries.
Throughout Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy treatment, patients breathe 100% pure oxygen, which produces an increase in the amount of oxygen carried by the blood. The air we normally breathe only contains 19-21% of this essential element. The concentration of oxygen normally dissolved in the bloodstream is thus raised many times above normal – up to 2,000%.
Under typical circumstances, oxygen is transported throughout the body only by red blood cells. However, because HBOT forces oxygen into the body under pressure, oxygen dissolves into all of the body’s fluids, including the plasma, the Lymph, and the cerebrospinal fluids surrounding the brain and spinal cord. These fluids can carry the extra oxygen, even to areas where circulation is poor or blocked, either by trickling past the blockages or by seeping into the affected area. In this way, more oxygen can reach damaged tissues and the body has a greater opportunity to support its own healing.
Extra oxygen facilitates the healing process and enhances the body’s white blood cells’ ability to fight infection. It can promote the development of new capillaries, the tiny blood vessels that connect arteries to veins. It also helps the body build new connective tissue. Consequently, HBOT may assist the body’s organs in functioning more efficiently altogether.
Every patient is unique and individually evaluated according to their condition and response to therapy to determine the number of treatments needed.
The average patient typically requires 30-40 treatments or dives, each of which lasts approximately 60-120 minutes.

INCREASE YOUR CELL FUNCTION WITH O2
Whether you are a parent, physician, or professional athlete, you will find that all our HBOT chambers designed to provide complete freedom of movement for two adults, maintain impeccable safety specifications and unique support system for you to enter/exit the chamber with ease.
BEFORE THE HBOT SESSION
We recommend that you avoid eating or drinking (specifically carbonated beverages) directly prior to treatment, unless medically required, to avoid the need to use the restroom or cause an upset stomach during the session. Some medications are incompatible with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy; a complete list of medications and supplements taken by the you should be provided to us during the initial consult, and updates should always be provided.
To maximize the benefit of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, smoking of any kind should be avoided during the course of your complete treatment protocol. Alcohol consumption should be avoided at least 8 hours prior to treatment.
The temperature may vary inside the chamber. Wear comfortable clothes – any material is fine. We suggest wearing layers so that you can make adjustments depending on the temperature. We will have pillows and a blanket available.
DURING THE HBOT SESSION
This is a simple, non-invasive and painless treatment which most patients find pleasurable and relaxing. You will be treated in a comfortable purpose-built chamber.
The treatment session is in 3 phases:
1) COMPRESSION— After the door is closed, there will be some noise as the pressure increases. It will get warmer and you will feel “fullness” in your ears like descending in an airplane. You will have been taught how to avoid discomfort by clearing or “equalizing” your ears. If you develop any discomfort inform the operator and the rate of compression will be reduced. There may be a few unusual noises, but they can be ignored. If you are the parent of a small child who is having trouble with their ears during pressurization, try massaging the area just below the ears and right behind the jaw. A baby still on the bottle or pacifier should be given either of these, but if your child is likely to spill drinks in the chamber please try to monitor them with liquids.
2) TREATMENT— The treatment begins when the pressure reaches the prescribed level. You may then rest, sleep, read a book, listen to music or watch a show on iPad/phone. It’s your opportunity to relax and get better!
3) DECOMPRESSION— The operator will let you know when the treatment is complete, and the pressure will be lowered slowly, again at a rate comfortable to your ears.
AFTER HBOT SESSION
HBOT is a cumulative therapy so people often do not notice a great change after one treatment.
It’s typical for it to take four or five treatments before the benefits exponentially take off for the average person.
What we’ve found is that combining therapies can speed up the benefits.
Our standard combo series is HBOT followed by a 30-minute sauna. We can make that even better by adding a medical massage or one of our other therapies to the combo.
