What is the science behind Red Light Therapy (Photobiomodulation)?

Red Light Therapy (Photobiomodulation) operates on the principle that specific wavelengths of light can trigger biological processes in the
cells that aid in healing and rejuvenation. The light emitted by RED LIGHT THERAPY (PBM) devices is absorbed by mitochondrial chromophores in the cells. This absorption enhances the efficiency of the electron transport chain, leading to increased production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is the energy currency of the cell. This boost in ATP production can help accelerate healing processes, reduce inflammation, and mitigate pain. The therapy also induces mild oxidative stress, which leads to cellular adaptations that strengthen the cells' ability to handle oxidative and inflammatory conditions.
