Red light therapy (RLT), also known as photobiomodulation (PBM), is a treatment that uses low-level red or near-infrared light to stimulate cellular function. The therapy is primarily used to accelerate healing, reduce inflammation, and improve skin health. RLT works by penetrating the skin and being absorbed by cells, particularly the mitochondria, where it boosts energy production (ATP) and promotes cellular repair.
